Sister Kate gets a phone call from a local hospital telling her Violet is there. Violet went to the hospital because that is where she last saw her friend alive. The friends invisible counterpart is how Violet coped with the death.

Kate gets to become a mother - to an infant child abandoned at the orphanage. Meanwhile the kids try to raise 200 dollars to replace a vase they smashed in Kate's office.

The weather's cold, but feuding Freddy and Todd warm up to each other on a trip to Syracuse to to get a part for the furnace.
