Biography
Gijsbert (Gijs) van Hall (Amsterdam, 21 April 1904 – Amsterdam, 22 May 1977) was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II, a Labour Party politician, Mayor of Amsterdam, and a senator. He was married to Emma Nijhoff, the daughter of an Amsterdam publisher, and was a descendant of the Amsterdam banking family Van Hall.
